Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2008 Saturn Outlook has a message that the oil pressure is low stop engine. I have recently had the engine oil changed and it shows 64% life remining. I checked the oil and it is showing within a normal range. I had it checked for codes and there are no codes showing up. What would the most likely cause be?

Most likely cause for a low oil pressure light would be low oil pressure. Yes, you have enough oil and it still has 64% left but do you have the pressure checked with a mechanical gauge?

install mechanical gauge to check pressure. let it warm up to operating temp. if low, rebuild or replace engine. if normal, replace sending unit.

Well mIne has been doing this for awhile and no one could figure out the problem and yesterday while driving it died. Come to find out my timing belt is horrible, my engine is probably shot along with the engine heads. I still owe a lot of money and I am very disappointed.

Probably need replace oil pressure pump.Go to the manual repair book and find the amount of pressure requiere for your oil pump engine, check with the right tool.if the pressure isn't accurate by the book, replace the oil pump.
