How well does the engine of the Cadillac SRX 3.6L V6 hold up, the one I am looking at has 121,641 miles and is a 2008....

It all depends on how the car was driven and maintained. I would worry more about the rest of the car than the engine. All those gizmos and electronic systems start going bad after a few years and they cost a lot to fix.

The motor you have, the 3.6L V6 is quite reliable. If it was regularly maintained, and you continue that, you should have no trouble getting another 100,000 miles from the vehicle. The 2008 didn't have too many electronic options to affect the reliability.

I am looking at a very well maintained 2008 that has high mileage also. The price is fair and I know the family. Will changing out the timing belt and water pump be a proactive move? It has not been done.

Lee, yes it would definitely help to change it all out since you’re in there..

The timing belt went three weeks after I purchased my used 2005 Cadillac SRX. The timing chain caused the motor to go. Now, we are stuck putting in a new timing chain and a refurbbed engine. Changing out the timing belt and water pump would be an awesome idea!
