My 2nd row 40/60 bench seat won't pull up!

Asked by AMZ Jan 20, 2012 at 02:32 AM about the 2008 Chevrolet Suburban

Question type: Car Customization

I pulled the lever, the seat went down and now I can't get it to go back up. I can pull the lever all the way and the whole seat lifts, but the back portion WILL NOT move! This is the 60% side (behind the driver seat) Any ideas?

Does your seats have the electronic "push button?" If so, sometimes the seats gets "hung" and if you push the button and let it go throught the complete cycle it will correct itself. If you do not have the button and it's manual, do you have anything in the floorboard that may be obstructiing the seat from completely going forward? If so, try to clear the area and then try repositioning. Hope this helps and makes sense...good luck!

Make sure that your THIRD row seats are not folded and tumbled forward when you try to pull up second row seats. This worked for me.

Not push button controlled & Third seats are not installed.. The whole 60 side folded down great but now the seat locks into place, but the back won't raise up.

I am having the same issue right now. I’m going to try a few more things and then start tearing into it. I will let you know if there is an easy fix.

Turned out that some WD-40, then worked all the moving parts fixed it. It was gummed up from spilled cokes and what not

I have a 2012 Silverado 2500HD LT Z-71 The rear seats have a screw that appears to accept a handle or lever to release the seat portion to lift it up. Both handles are broken off and the dealership here can't find them on a diagram. If anyone is aware of these parts, I could use a part number for both.
