What could cause my 2008 Hyundai Accent to shut down while driving?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I was driving about 40mph on a very hot day with the windows down, no A/C on, and the radio loud. All of the sudden my gas pedal went limp and the dials all shut down. The radio and all electrical was still working. After pulling off to the side I tried to restart my car and it won't. It sounds like it wants to start but will not turn over. Tried jumping it also, thinking the battery may be bad, and still no results. Anyone have any ideas why this might be happening.

And did you here any noise, rattaling or any thing uncomon when car stopped?
No noises that I could remember but the radio was loud so I may have not heard them if they did happen.

Check the fuel pump first,if its good could have been a timing issue, belt jumping When a car shuts down when its running,it normally is a fuel pump,,,the worst it could be is jumped timing.
the worse it could be is a whole lot more than jumped timing, could be broken timing belt and with all that loud music you missed the pistons slamming into the valves.
