KEYS

I've owned pontiacs back to 1964 and they all had 2 keys - one for the ignition and one for the doors, trunk, and glove box. I suspect yours is the same way.
I have 69 and my ignition key fits the doors, the other key is for the glove box and trunk. All my locks and keys are orginal
I have a 65 GTO and yes my ignition key and door lock are both keyed the same.
My apologies. My old brain must not be correct if both of your 65's ignition keys also opens the doors. I thought everything had separate door and ignition keys but I must be wrong. I wonder what year they switched. I've had a 64, 66, 68, 2-73's, 80, 84, 85, and currently a 91Pontiac as well as other GM's from years 70, 71, 72, another 73, an 88 and a 93. I cannot remember any of them having the ignition key work the doors. Do you know what year they switched so I won't make this error again? I'm thinking it may have been between 68 and 72.
in 65 the door key was dfferent from ignition.
On my 66, I have 3 keys. One for Door. One for the trunk and glove box. Last key for the ignition..
64 to 67 General Motors cars the ignition key also work the doors. There's a separate key for the trunk glove box and console. This is what they called the valet option. So when you park your car in valet parking you hand them the one key so they can start the car and lock the door you keep your truck key with you so they can't access your trunk your glove box or your console
