Found an Original Ram Air III GTO???
Asked by jlo89 Jun 09, 2020 at 12:47 PM about the 1969 Pontiac GTO
Question type: Shopping & Pricing
Good day folks,
I came across a 1969 GTO Ram Air III with 4 speed. However, it currently
has a 400cui 6.6-liter engine from a 1972 vehicle and it also comes with a
Munchie M20 gearbox.
It is also in Starlite Black, which according to the owner, is a rare
combination.
He was able to provide me with the VIN #:
242 37 9 A 1 12815
He also claims that the car is registered with "The Judge" registry, which I
have failed to confirm.
Any thoughts?

Check with PHS. Pontiac Historical Services. It is a real GTO but I cannot verify the rest. Even without the original engine it is worth something. I would buy it and find a correct engine for it! Good luck! http://www.judgeregistry.com/
So currently, the owner has disassembled the engined because of some issues with the camshaft. This is the what he says in the post: "Sell my 1969 Pontiac Gto Ram Air III 4 Speed very very rarely it is a real no clone! Except for the block numbers, the color combination black black is ultra rare! To the positive vehicle is unrestored in 2 paint with an insane patina, the interior is new! The body is accident-free and without a spatula! There is no rust rust through there is rust! It is a 400cui 6.6 liter with a Muncie M20 transmission. The complete Ram Air intake is completely new! This Gto is registered in the Judge Register in Usa and is one of the first Gtos built in 69 as Ram Air. There were a lot of new things made in the USA, like the gearbox completely overhauled, new exhaust system, many priceless original Ram Air items were made, etc. The engine was also renewed with a replaced block of 72. A lot was done on the engine! Unfortunately the engine was hit hard when it was loaded several times and a bearing damage was found. The bearings of the crankshaft are new and the crankshaft would have to be ground unduly to the next one! The engine and the front end were disassembled by me, but everything was neatly packed in labeled bags. Unfortunately, my house renovation got in the way and I am still busy! Unfortunately I don't have the time to finish building my dream car! Wanted to let him renew from the outside only technically like this there is no second a real shocker! The engine ran well before removal and had full power. All cylinders had top compression values. Only when changing the oil did I notice mica in the oil and then I dismantled it. Honest car no scrap !! No emergency sale vehicle looks like in the last picture is cleared with papers delivery Germany possible! Many new parts on top!" Asking price $ 27,200 OBO Im thinking of striking a deal of $21500 What do you think?
Gotta love the 8-track in the dash! It will be a ton of work but if the body and frame are solid, and you have the time and energy, it may be a good purchase at the right price.
I like the way he flushed nearly $6000 down the drain before negotiations even started. Arrive with a trailer and $18,000 and I'll bet you've got yourself a car.
