Fuel for 71 GTO 455

Question type: General

I just inherited my dad's 1971 GTO and am
wondering what the best fuel I should run. I
live in Alberta Canada if that makes any
difference.

Premium. If it still pings you may need to retard the timing and use an octane booster.

thats right....if you have any speed shops around you you can get a drum of any type of fuel you want.. if there are no emissions laws..for that car look for 100 oct...

I don't have the car home yet, I am still trying to find a reasonably priced way to get it shipped from Nova Scotia to Alberta.

He bought this car brand new in '71 and has owned it ever since. All the serial numbers of course match and it is absolutely mint. It was his baby and I am proud to call it mine now.

WOW! My mother had that exact car and color combo back in '71 right down to the Rally II wheels. Hers, unfortunately only had a base engine but was sweet to drive. Can't imagine the fun you are having while driving and preserving this 455 car. Give her all the octane you can get!
