Can I put a Chevy 305 in a 80 Buick skylark sedan

Your Skylark is a front wheel drive car and it would be a major task to install any small block Chevy engine in that car. I am sure someone has done it but you would also need to change the transmission and beef up all the suspension.

Agreed! If it was a Regal (RWD) it would almost be a "plug-and- play". This would cost more to do than, no disrespect, the vehicle is worth... a 3.4 or 3.6 V6 would be a good fit, still lots of work... but they are not expensive and plentiful.
