Engine Stalls While Driving

This 1989 Cadillac Sedan DeVille 5.2L .318 cu.in. shut off while traveling over 70/30 mph. Restarting, results in
almost immediate choking out. Where to begin? Its as if there maybe a gas/air ratio imbalance. Is it possible an
emmisions issue or system failure is likely where to look. The air filter hasn't been replaced, and research suggest
the EGR, vacum hose to EGR check w/a EGR valve check of the diaphram. Others suggest cleaning the throttle
body int/ext thouroughly.
Any help or ideas greatly appreciated.

Well embarrassing as it is the answer to the inquiry question was resolved by fueling up the caddy. I examined everything but overlooked we failed to notice we were riding on empty.

I was thinking a clogged fuel filter... lack of gas will do the same thing except that it should not have restarted.
