1974 eldorado rochester 7044232 federal carburetor.

Asked by falforque Jun 24, 2018 at 11:05 PM about the 1974 Cadillac Eldorado

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1. Does a Federal 7044232 carburetor run
richer than a California 7044532? 2. Are
they interchangeable, or should I stay with
the Federal even if the Eldorado is in
California now?

1975 and earlier cars are smog exempt in Kalifornia.

Thank You for your Quick Response. My Eldorado is building so much black carbon around the tail pipe no smoke runs great 54,486 miles on engine. Should I clean or rebuild the Carburetor? The muffler shop won't change the wrong size 12"x4" round resonator to a 18"x4" round unless I find out why it is running rich. What do you recommend I do?

Sounds like time for new one or a rebuild. Keep the original even if you don't use it!
