i am looking to buy a 2002 Chevy suburban with 226k on it and just found out the lifts are making noise under maximum load. What are the repercussions of this? Price is 1200

You are only risking $1,200. With that many miles you could be due for a new engine.
At 226K miles, consider this a project vehicle that is likely to need repairs or a new engine sooner rather than later. Gunked up or worn lifters can allow slack into the valve train. That can allow the valves to not open/close when they should, so you will lose compression. You might also lose a liter or rocker arm if it gets too bad, or in an interference engine, a valve may contact the piston top. Try a high mileage motor oil, or degunk the engine with seafoam or lucas engine treatment then change the oil. If you're not prepared though to deal with the possibility of an engine breakdown, best not to take on a high mileage vehicle.
226k and the lifters are making noise? FORGET ABOUT IT.
