There could be several causes, but first a better description is needed. How much time elapses between rpm changes...seconds or less...minutes? Also, how drastic are the changes and do they go from what seems like a normal idle to a high idle or to a low idle...or both ways. Does it almost stall at any time? Has this been a one tank of gas problem...it could be as simple as bad gas or a clogging fuel filter.

if you don't run the right octane fuel in your car, you could mess the idling sensor up.
