It might but every time you hit the brakes the engine will surge or die

I would plug any open lines coming from the engine to stop any vacuum leaks. I would be very surprised that the brake booster was routed through the reservoir. Test the brakes after bypassing the reservoir to make certain they work well just to be safe.
