Fuel pump issue

I accedentaly connected a wire to the fuel pump
relay and it sparked , what could be the problem? I
also put in a new fuel pump and it still does the
same thing

    We've replaced the fuel pump and filter on a 2003 Chevy Silver a do but still not getting any fuel to the engine. I can hear the pump running but can't even smell any gas fumes in the engine.

    I changed distributor cap, rotor and spark plugs. Truck turns on then shuts off immediately. If hold the gas down the truck stays on. Do I need a fuel pump? The truck is an 88 Silverado
