When remove gas cap from 1972 Cutlass
why do I get lots of pressure vapor

I am wondering if the 1972 Cutlass requires a vented gas cap. It is possible it has the wrong gas cap on it. According to www.yearone.com the 1972 Cutlass uses a vented cap.
