Carburetor

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Don't know if I have bad carburetor or if it is the
mechanical fuel pump.Quadrajet,4 barrell.it's
definitely a fuel problem.How do I figure out which
one not working properly?

Its the carburetor! if there's fuel in it! If not check the pump.. But after 30 plus years that Carb Q-Jet needs a rebuild or a re-manufactured replacement.

Thanks.Original carb and fuel pump.32,000 original miles.been sitting alot,but I always kept it running till a few weeks ago .First time it never started.Changed fuel filter,but didn't need it.How much fuel should be in carb?

Enough for it to squirt a stream when you open the throttle fully use a flash light make sure the accelerator pump is functional. Next make sure its not "pouring excess fuel" from a stuck float shouldn't drip or continue to let fuel flow. Regards
