How do I set the idle speed on my 2000 chevy cav , when you start it, even if its warmed up, it idles between 2500 and 3000 rpm, then slowly drops to 1500 rpm, but doesn't go any lower than that, I have to press on the brakes hard to stop because its idling so high

if its determined that its the IAC, how do I replace it
I've also had the fuel pressure regulator on the end of the fuel rail go bad pumping raw gas through a vac port in the intake that coupled with a sticky IAC valve will do it. To check the regulator pull the vac hose off the nipple and see if you have fuel coming out. If it's leaking you do NOT need to remove the fuel rail to change it as the book says but you WILL curse like a sailor doing it this way. And i went through 3 of them from Orilleys till i got a good one so always check the new installed one if it's leaking fuel from the inside.
My car has same symptoms with no check engine light at first then one day I started it up and the rims went to 2000 then the check engine light came on with code p0502 but my rpm gauge worked and the mph gauge worked then the battery died replaced it then the high idling stopped for threes days with no check engine light or trac off light or abs but I scanned it anyways got the code c1225 bad wheel sensor would my wheel sensor effect my rpms that bad or even at all?
Our car is a 2001, the fuel regulator finely started to leak constantly and I replaced it myself. Yes it's a real pain with a stupid torx bolt! The O ring was too small, had to redo the job several times! GRR. That's fixed now but the car is idling now at 1500 warm and 2500 cold. Going to order the IAC valve and replace it myself.
