Dear Nikki-- Your 2000 Chevrolet Prizm will get between 28 and 32 mpg. if you have a three-speed automatic transmission, bewtween 29 and 37 mpg. if you have a four-speed transmission, and from 31 to 38 mpg. if you have a manual transmission. These numbers come from our very own government at www.fueleconomy.gov. Good luck from Bovan.

Hello, Follow these few points and enjoy better mileage 1. Always follow an authorized service center for maintenance service 2. Avoid AC 3.Make sure that your tires are properly inflated 4.Always use a good engine oil 5. Avoid accelerating on steep road 6. Drive in right gear 7.Keeping your highway speed at 55 mph can improve you gas mileage by as much as 25%. http://www.coast2coasttrafficschool.com/

pretty crappy mileage, the 3 speed burns alot of oil at 80mph, and is only a 3 speed. a ford focus gets better gas mileage

Yeah stay away from the 3 speed automatic cars, the 4 speed automatics get better mileage and dont let the engine rev at a lower RPM. For mileage with my 1998 base with the 5 speed manual, the worst i have ever got was 31 during the coldest part of February when the average temperature was -25. Even when deliver pizzas with it i got 33 with E-30 (70% gas 30% ethanol). In the spring and summer i constantly get 35-38 at 65mph and when i drive 55 (the speed which i drive it most at) i get between 39 and 43mpg! Not many cars out there can do that and still have the power this car does. Its not a hot rod but its faster than any geo metro or ford aspire and gets better or the same fuel economy. Plus you get the Toyota reliability with chevy's high depreciation you get an excellent value, plus the availability of side air bags and abs make it cheaper to insure
