I just bought my car Two weeks ago and all of a sudden the car wouldnt crank or turn over dead silence.

know its not the battery or the
alternator i started the car twice. Using
the old rubber screwdriver trick and
the cars been sitting for past week
now battery still strong as ever what
do i do im a single women who is
trying to figure this out on my own
becuz i don't have extra finances to be
charged outrageously prices to tell me
oh its just your fuse mamn or
something like that

Try jumping the starter make sure its ingaging to the flywheel. And you have a solid connection for that matter. If you do have good positive and neg. Connection the noide is engaging on the starter. My bet is. Ignition switch!! check with where you bought it see if they did any maintenance on it new starter new ignition switch Etc that can help you too not sure how many miles you have on it but I say this from experience on mine in the mid 90,000 range on mine my ignition switch went out and I thought it was my starter and I went through all the processes I just listed I found out it wasn't my starter and it was my ignition switch hope this helps

Why is it so hard to start my car? I have 98,000 miles on it and I just had the timing chain and fuel pump and fuel filter replaced. I can't get it started usually in the cold months. It keeps turning over but it takes sometimes 45 minutes of trying to start it before it gets started. I have tried using starting fluid but it still takes a long time. Once I get it started it is fine for the rest of the day. It will start right up. But if I let it sit overnight it will have the same problem in the morning. I also just put a new alternator and battery in it and all the trying to start it is just wearing the battery down to where I have to hook the jumper cables up to another car to try and get it started.
