im pulling the enigne of a 99 cavalier but there doesnt seem to be enough room to lift it out. is it possable to remove with out the tranny? if so how?

everything is disconnected from the engine. but there just isnt enough room to lift it out of the car and im hoping that theres a way to leave the transmition in but theres just not enough clearence betwwen the engine and tranny to lift it out what can i do?

on a front wheel drive,you have to pull them out together.
You should be able too because I just performed a transmission R&R on a 99 cavalier and it just dropped out. just make sure you pull the CV axles out and there is a hidden bolt on the other side of the transmission that you will need a long extension for. Just remember to support the transmission because the bracket on the drivers side may not be enough to hold it.
if its a 2.2l all you have to do is remove crank pully and remove the motor mounts then you will be able to pull it out...only way..we have a 98 cavy and we can do it in less then 2hours....done this hundreds of time...

i have a a96 chevy cavalier and i am having the same problem. mine is a 5 speed and i cant seem to be able to get the transmission and engine diconnected . what else do i have to do.
