Why would the words gas cap be on the

Sometimes it has to do with the amount of air getting into the gas tank, which sometimesturns on the engine light, or the cap isn't getting closed right. If it's the manufacturer caps, then check for any holes, or any air flows that's connecting to the gas tank

Unscrew the gas cap and screw it back on again slowly. Make sure that it clicks. I get that message in my 2005 Ford Five Hundred now and then.
