Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My car is a Nissan Sentra 2008 and the gear shift will not go into drive or It won't go in to any gear for that matter. It gets stuck in park. It is an autmoatic and will eventually let me shift it in to gear after a minute or two. Do you know why it does this?

Sounds like you may have a faulty shift lock solenoid.
I'm with him on that one. same thing happened to a friend of mine.
hi how much would a faulty shift lock cost.
you can probably purchase a faulty shift lock for very low cost. A working one, however, may cost you a couple hundred dollars.

This is happening to my 2012 Sentra right now. Did you find out what caused it? How much did it cost to repair?
This is happening to my 2018 NISSAN SENTRA S...6 months old, under 13,000 miles
I have a 2015 Nissan Sentra with 50K miles on it. I have had multiple problems including CVT, Air Bags and now its getting stuck in Park. I brought it to the dealer who charged me $120 to diagnose the problem. I was told today the Shift Assembly needs replacement. It’s not covered under warranty and is $800 to replace. I contact Nissan Customer Affairs to complain and requested they cover the repair costs. This is by far the poorest quality vehicle I have ever owned. I should not have to replace this vitally important part in vehicle this age. I was told they will contact me within 24 hours with an answer.
