Lost Keys to 2008 Mazda Tribute. Locksmiths tried to code new keys and weren't successful. Found original key and now it doesn't work.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Lost keys to Mazda Tribute.  Three locksmiths hooked up their computers to
my car and tried to code new keys.  The third and most confident locksmith
said the others scramble my computer.  Found original key and it won't work.
Took it to dealer and they said I need an "instrument cluster", which seemed
very strange, so I towed it home.  Do I not need my ecm reprogrammed or
replaced?

I worked for Mazda Motor company for 13 years as there master technician. You need to go to the dealer who use IDS ( ford and mazda diag, lap top) You will need to purchase keys through them and they should have no problem programming them to your vehicle.

I took it to the local Mazda dealer and they could not make keys. I now have 5 keys for my car. The original, two from locksmiths in Utah, two from the Mazda dealer here at home and they tell me the keys can't be programmed that something is fouled up with the car's recognition and I need an "instrument cluster", so I may try the Ford dealer I guess.
