Not qutie sure. I have heard everything from 400 hp to 600 hp at the crank. From the factory it was rated at 425. (If it is 600 I have heard that the factor rated it down because of insurence reasons.)

I did a little research and it turns out that the 426 hemi Cuda was putting out 630 hp and somewhere around 5-600 ft lbs of torque.

Thats what i said. The Speed Channel had a show that took all original no modified muscle cars from the 60's and 70's and basically went through everything the cars were built 2 do.

I'm not sure about the '70 426 but I saw a show on Speed I think that tested a stock '66 426 Hemi and it was tested on the dyno at over 800 HP!!! And if I remember right it was somewhere between 650 750 and ft. lb. of torque. I thought that was rediculous but the Ford 427 "Cammer" was way over 600 HP so it must be correct. S.S.S.
