as above engine cuts out ,recent repairs include cleaning throttle body
catalytic converter replaced 1.4 petrol duratec ghia

Have you checked out the fault codes in the engine management system ? They will either be : P0--- or P1--- Fault codes. Start there.

P0 --- or P1---- These are Fault codes for the Power Train. These codes are universal for all cars. They are ISO Standards. It might be a P0113 or so on will represent an area of the EFI System. These pault codes will stay in the Non-Volitile memory until the code is cleared using Diagnostic Test Equipment.
