"WANTED" I need a 1998 Chevy Tracker Engine Block

Asked by Tony May 24, 2011 at 12:27 PM about the 1998 Chevrolet Tracker

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Need ENGING BLOCK for a 1998 Chevy Tracker, 1.6 L 8V, 4x4, 5 spd man with
AC.

My car might be toast!?! I paid someone $600.00 to change out my head gasket
only to find out that the head gasket is ok & I have a hairline crack in my block.
In the last year & 1/2, I have changed out everything on this car except for the
Tranny, Rare-end and the oil pump. I would hate to let her go!
I really do like this car but the only engine the mechanic can find is $700+ with
180,000 M on it. That is way over my budget. Can someone tel me what year
block will fit my car so I can do a better search? Do you know any part #'s?
Anything would be much appreciated!!
Thanks!!

Well, if you want, I have a 1992 GEO tracker LSi 4X4 for $1200 (negotiable) with a 1.6L inline 4, Lots of work done, body's rusted and I need a highway vehicle. If not interested, try any V6 from a Chevy S10, Chevy Blazer or other vehicles from '92- '96.
