Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi, i recently justbhad a ecu on my 05 escape go
bad. This will be the 3rd one that failed on me in 6
months. I have no idea what is causing this and
cannot find anything online to help me... Whe. I
ordered a new one lasttime some of the sotes said
i had to change all coils and plugs when changing my
ecu or it will happen again. But the one i ended up
ordering from did not say that. I'm just really
confused and have no idea why i would be going
through so many ecu's. If anyone could give me
atleast a little bit of help would be greatly
appreciated

Please explain all details and the shop name that did the work! The Ford computer is called EECV on your vehicle, these rarely fail... But can be destroyed by jumping the battery incorrectly reverse polarity! or other EXTREME measures. Next where are you buying EEC units from? 3 of them! I suggest you maintain, keep a complete service records flash drive or folder and all receipts too..Regards

Thank you for your reply. I had the first 2 computers changed by a shop at an auto recycler then when he argued with me telling me it wasnt the computer i went and ordered 1 from california. I live in canada. So that cost me almost 900. I changed it myself. It ran fine for about a month and a half then failed on me again. Everytime i change it it lasts around a month then quits again. My battery is connected fine and i have never had to boost it. Could it be that the shop who changed the motor in my car put the wrong coils in? I also read that if i have the wrong coils they wont have the right amount of resistance and affect the computer..

Ford issued a TSB for 05 Escape's and Mariners with the 3.0 V6. Apparently the factory installed Plugs and Coils were incorrect and fry the PCM . Mine happened after 120,000 miles. Need to replace all Coils, Plugs and PCM.
