Inspect and clean all battery connections positive and negative. Also clean negative connections on frame and motor. Does it mainly shut off while slowing down to stop like at a stop sign?
yes that usually when it does it
It can also do it when driving at regular speed the be completly fine.
Is your check engine light on? If so what are the codes? This info will help figure out your issues. It going dead when stopping normally means an issue with the idle air control valve or dirty throttle plate. But you say yours also does it while normal driving. Could be a fuel issue or throttle position sensor issue.
It's only been a few months since I replaced plugs, wires, all o2 censors, and the distibuter cap.
Check engine light is on not sure of the codes just yet.
Those codes will help figure out the issues you are having.
Just went through this. It is posted. WAS the oil pressure valve/sensor. Mechanic said what he removed was likely the original part (1990) and it was filthy. Van was stalling consistently for no good reason. Mechanic bypassed the oil pressure sensor....it ran fine. So was replaced. So far so good.
