start with cleaning the colling system ; drain all liquid , fill withh distiled water together with 1/2 kilo = 1lbs of sodacrystals .. run car for a daay or two , drain the dirty cooling liquid , dothis untill clean clean . if lot's of dirt came out , maybe problem is solved . if not check for return of the inside heatertune if it is going in the 'cold ' side of the radiator then you have one of GM's hotrunners .. change the outlay by moving over the hot return into the hot side of the radiator; by means of a Tpiece insert and block of the wrong 'cold' side entree of the rad .. this is typical for 91/92/93 Caprice Chevy's
My 1989 Caprice Brougham LS I change the water pump thermostat and put another radiator also what the temperature still goes up once I get up to 70 or 80 or over 30miles out

see my answer above and do it all .. ckean system with soda crystals . put lower termostat in ( i am running 76Celsius termostat ) and change the returntube from the inside heater to the hotside of the radiator .this is a common fault on these cars It was modified in 94 with ne'w modified radiators .
