Asked by Carlee Jun 01, 2019 at 02:07 AM about the 2005 Ford Explorer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When the "O/D off" light is on in my 2005 Ford explorer,
does that mean the O/D is on?  When I first started the
truck the light is not on. You have to push the button on
handle for "O/D off" light to come on. Basically I'm asking
should I drive with the light on or off?

Hi Carlee, t shoes is pretty much dead on! However I will say that with my OD switch, I have towed just fine with my outfit ( 96 F150 v 8 4 x 4) with ease BUT the speed was kept way down ( high velocity, low rpm). yes, I was able to tow with my OD. Although I was flattered to have the full contained '72 travel trailer, I no longer have it. My vehicle is doing just fine. Good luck, from Utah

Just drive it. If you are towing something switch the O/D to off.
