Ford explorer grinding noise

I have a 2005 ford explorer and i no i have a driver side
back tire wheel bearing thats bad however the pther
day i tried to use the truck in 4x4 mode to help pull
someone out the mud but now the 4x4 is off but when
im driving it makes a loud grinding and scraping
noise.. when i speed up it goes off any body know
what could be causeing this...
