Should I buy?

Asked by YoungProfessionalSea... Aug 28, 2019 at 07:46 AM about the 2005 Ford Five Hundred

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I am buying an adult car for my first job. This car really cant have the
transmission go out, or I will be flat broke. I am looking at a Ford Five Hunred
from 2005. It has 141,000 Miles on it. It has been well maintained by an
elderly mechanic and hasn’t been driven much. I am pretty sure all the fluids
have been maintained. I am so stressed about the continual transmission. Is it
worth the risk? The car is beautiful and so well maintained.

Unfortunately, it's anyone's guess. No way for anyone to tell you exactly how long the transmission will last.

Buy a lower mile car. I would say that most cars need a new transmission by the time they hit 140,000 miles.
