My 1993 fifth avenue has 200 thousand miles on it, when
it idles I get ticking noise from the engine, that just

Well, by the specs it uses 5w30 oil, But if it starts ticking at idle, I would switch to 10w30. If that doesnt help, you can try 10w40. If money is not an issue, use 10w30 oil with lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer (1L per oil change). I hope I answered your question.

The problem is not the oil type. It is the lean burn system they used on the 1980' s cars. Go online and search Chrysler fifth ave. lean burn problems. It can be corrected.
