My car has that genius invention that if you leave the keys in the car after a short time it automatically locks. Nice when you're away from home and just step out of the car to do something . Isn't there a way to reset something(keys or car) so that it doesn't do that?

I have got to tell you that without knowing about the auto lock when you have keys in the ignition, running, & you get out, & then get locked out, is very dangerous if you have little one's in the car & the weather is either really hot, or cold. I think that this needs to be brought to people's attention upon purchasing, or be sued!! I wouldn't do that to anyone, but this is highly dangerous, & I called all the dealers in the area, who told me to call Nissan, & then I got a lady who was so rude, that I became rude & very stern with her, because of what I had gone through a couple times, & she didn't bother to help. She told me I had to pay for a complete diagnostic, & then they could determine what will need to be fixed. I told her I refused to pay for something that is so completely faulty, & dangerous, & then she hung up on me. NICE! So I still have the same problem, & I can't even start my car on the cold mornings, & let it warm up, while scraping windows off. I am selling at the first chance I get. Sorry Nissan, you just lost me, & anyone I can tell, sells, for what I went through & not a single help line in all the one's I tried to get talk with.
I experienced the same problem. So here's the issue and the fix... If you start your Rogue with the remote starter, the vehicle enables security features as you described. If the vehicle's engine stops during the remote start phase (usually 8-10 minutes), the vehicle still remains in remote start security mode until disabled by the user. If you simply reach into the vehicle and start it using the key and then close the door (to spend some time scraping and de-icing the windshield, for example.), the vehicle will automatically lock the doors and essentially lock you out of your vehicle with the engine running...not good! In order to disable the remote start/auto lock system, you must depress the brake pedal after you have started the vehicle with the key. This will allow you to get that ice off the windows without locking your keys inside a running vehicle. Hope this helps.
