what recourse does owner have?

Asked by littleredtruck1951 Jul 30, 2014 at 10:35 AM about the Ford Transit Cargo

Question type: General

2009  Ford 150 never repaired before (May) now needs new engine due to faulty repair
made.  Is there any real recourse that can be made for costs to replace motor that were
caused by mechanic?  This has been photographed and documented-next step is an
attorney since repair shop doesn't seem to want to cooperate, asking for history of
vehicle-the vehicle has never had any repair, just routine maintenance prior to this.

It sounds like you have a good case AND have done your home work. Here is who I see it going down. Let's say the judge decides in your favor. Your NOT going to get the cost of a new engine. Lets say the judge decides that the life expectancy of the engine is 250000 miles. Lets say when the shop killed your good motor it had 100000 miles on it. The judgment you can expect is the value between the two. Plus the cost of installing and fluids. Do the math. See what you stand to win. Find out what's the maximum amount you can sue for in civil court. You have a strong case and the other party might just want to settle out of court.
