I have a 2004 jimmy it goes into 4wheel but the light on the dash blink and so it turn off 4wd atuo after a short time
I have 2004 jimmy that goes into 4wheel drive but the 4wheel high light just blinks and
the same in 4auto and4 low but all work ( after a short time 4 auto kicks out) a friend has
the same jimmy that works so we exchanged 4wheel modules and the problem stay the
same does anyone have an idea what to try next

What modules did you swap? Where is it located on the truck?
The 4 wheel drive control module located in the front passengers side kick panel
Ok, I would look under the the battery tray. (2 of the bolts come in from the wheelwell) There is a vacuum module that gets rotten and won't hold vacuum anymore. Its easy to change.
I will look but it does stay in 4 high and 4 low but the indicator light on the dash just binks it is only in 4auto that it kicks out thank
Oh so the 4x4 doesn't disengage just the light on the dash. Am I right?
It turns off and on correctly but the dash never show that it it fully in gaged the lights just blink even though it is and because of that after a time in 4auto it turns its self off automatically ( once it is in 4 high or 4 auto the light on the dash should go solid but does not) the rest works fine
Oh, ok. Sorry, I was over thinking this. Its probably the switch itself. Swap with your buddy's and that should fix it. They just pop out of the dash with a thin straight blade screwdriver.
Thank I will try that next I thought it might be some thing from down below not sending a signal but the switch is a easier thing to try first thank you
