vx commodore overheats when towing or uphill journeys

Asked by N3v Dec 10, 2013 at 03:12 AM about the Holden Commodore

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

vx berlin a started overheating (refer to question). Have changed all hoses, water pump,
thermostat however have only flushed radiator.

I was thinking of getting trans service so as fresh trans fluid would run on either sides of
radiator core.

Thermo fans appear to work. one continuous and the other only kicks in if the car gets
extremely hot.

Ideas anyone???

assuming its auto, when travelling up hills, drop it into 3rd, to put less work on the gearbox selecting gears, also, try putting the heater on. some of the hot water will flow into the heating part, thus making the system it a little bit cooler. as for towing, maybe try the heater technique. hope this helps.
