my astra does the same, the prob is normally EGR valve
If you are getting the engine warning light showing then it's probably to do with the EGR valve. Before doing anything with the EGR change the spark plugs and run some redex through see if that'll clear up the injectors/fuel lines.
better to get a blanking plate fitted to where the EGR valve is,then you can disconnect the EGR and throw it away,as all it does is let exaust gases into the inlet manifold..EEC rules (that don't apply in the UK) have forced manufacturers to fit these to all vehicles,UK MOT stations will not fail cars that have no EGR valves as the emisions that the cars produce are under uk limits.
