i've recently bouht a new led light gear shift knob for my pegout 306 hdi meridian estate but i'm not sure how to fit it can any one help.

I replaced the knob on my previous 306 XSi, it wasn't an led knob though. All I can pass on is that to remove the original all you need to do is pull upwards - hard. This might sound brutish and pig headed but works and is how my peugeot mechanic advised me to do it!
