Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm wondering if anyone can help me figure out whats goin on with my car. Its got the fault code 0340 camshaft position sensor malfunction, I have tried the folllowing,
Cleaned ICV & MAF
blocked off egr valve
checked at night for arching sparks from ht leads,
Spark plugs look ok so do leads
the camshaft sensor looks in good condition
I traced the wire and found the previous owners join in wire, I re cut it and made fresh joins but no joy.
If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated as im losing the plot lol.
Oh and its an x20xev engine (facelift)

the cam sensor could have an internal fault if you believe all the wiring is good.

cam sensor is basicly digital voltage. check the voltage when its near and away from metal, you should get a high and low voltage.
