Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1965 Ford Galaxie that has a 1964 352
cubic inch engine in it. I get a initial Spark however
there is no spark after that. What could this be? I
have taken the points out and replaced it with an
electronic ignition.

Installing electronic ignition is a good idea and it also eliminates the condenser which can short out when they get hot. The next thing to suspect is the ignition coil. You can get instructions online to do an ohm meter test of the coil. Those older cars a real easy to diagnose. Have fun.

Check the point gap and timing. You may want to go ahead and replace the cap, rotor, points and wires while you are at it. The coil is also a possibility. Check the distributor shaft for play and wobble. A dwell meter is a good way to check to see if the dwell angle changes as this indicates a worn distributor.

I have basically brand new everything on the electronic ignition side. I am wondering if it has something to do with the distributor shaft? I have been replacing coils because I did not have my resistor on but now I have my resistor before the coil. when we put the new electronic ignition in we just put the guts in and left the old distributor on and got a new cap and wires and plugs. It was just running a few days ago.
