A seat question about '64 Galaxie 500

Asked by jondragt Dec 11, 2018 at 07:29 PM about the Ford Galaxie

Question type: General

I plan on driving my recently purchased 64 Galaxie 500 XL on a long road
trip. It kind of gives me the willies not having a headrest in case I get rear-
ended by a distracted driver. Does anyone know of a more modern seat I
can swap in for trip that would fit this model with a headrest? I think 66's
offered a headrest. Would that likely work without major modification? I'd
want to be able to put the originals back in once I return from the trip. I'm
also a little freaked out about having only a lap belt, but since it's a
convertible I'm not seeing a good option for a should harness.
--Or am I just being a overly cautious?

The only thing I can think of is to use a seat out of a pickup that has a built in shoulder belt and headrest.
