could be your air flow meater or the electro magnetic pick up covered in shit an d muck or even the butterflys in the fuel injection system scored and gone funny through crap fuel being put in some time of its life try a good quality fuel cleaner and an additive called octane booster it is avalible from most spares shops and give it a steam clean and let me know wether or not it solves it ducati996_@live.com
