No. It was made by BMW specifically for McLaren.
Variants of the BMW S70/2 V12 engine appeared in the BMW V12 LM racing car in 1998 and updated BMW V12 LMR that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1999 and continued racing into 2000. BMW also built a crazy one-off version of the BMW X5 SUV called the Le Mans which they managed to squeeze the S70 into the nose of. Hans Stuck set a lap time around the Nurburgring in this one at 8:05 - slightly faster than a BMW own Z8 roadster. I'm not aware of any other production cars that used the F1s engine in any form. >8^) ER
bmw were considering making an 8 series, which the v12 was going to go into, but they decided to scrap the idea. Then they heard about the Mclaren f1 and decided to make a more powerful and lighter version of the engine that they could put into the Mclaren f1
BMW 750 and 850 use a V12 that is the base of McLaren F1 engine
