9" stands for the dia of the ring gear not from flange to flange

Here are the widths for a few different Fords, I put a a 9" ford from a wrecked '65 hipo mustang in mine it is 58" from flang to flang. 64-65 Falcon 58 inches, 65-66 Mustang 57.25 inches 67-70 Mustang 59.25 inches 71-73 Mustang 61.25 inches 77-81 Versailles 58.50 inches 74 Maverick 8" 56.50 inches 75 Mustang II 8" 57.00 inches 57-59 Ranchero and station wagon rears, 57.25 inches 66-77 Bronco 9", 58 inches 77-81 Granada/Versailles, 58 inches 67-71 Comet, Cougar, Mustang, Fairlane, 59.25 inches 71-73 Mustang, 61.25 inches 67 Cougar 60 inches
all depends on whether you want to tub it out or not

You best bet to find a Stock read 9" that will fit is the 57-9 Fords like Troy said. The Bronco will fit but the diff is offset, so that may cause other issues. Other than that, Currie makes them any width you wan t, and they are not as expensive as you might think
on a 63 falcon 6 Cylinder stock rear-end measurements are 56" Question, Will a 6 cylinder work from a 67 mustang???, I will still be using the 13" 4 Lug Wheels....
I have a 68 falcon in trying to put a 5 lug rear end what is a good year to find one I don't want to cut nothing just put it rite on any idea? I don't know what year or car I can pull it off of...

I have a 9 inch under my 1964 falcon ranchero that measures exactly 511/2 inches backing plate to backing plate

51-1/2 inches is the correct measurement for a 1964 falcon .........
That rear end you have is either a custom one, or from a late 50's ford, They are the only 9" rear ends that i know of that ca\me in that width
