Is it really overheating or is the temp sensor going bad? If it's actually getting hot I would change the thermostat

Mike I habe just completed 700ks this week and the only time the temperature gauge went up was up a long hill and i could see the needle go up quickly to 3/4 of the gauge but not to overheat it felt like the car was struggling up the hill for 2 ks then once i got to the top of the hill and eased back on the accelerator it was back to normal could it be a small blockage in the cadolatic converters? but other than that she goes like normal Thanks for your input Mike From Oz
