What causes my 1978 F100 truck battery to drain once I drive my truck and stop some where? When I try to start it again the battery drags to where it almost don't start. It's a 3 year old battery

Check the water in the battery. The cells may have no water over them. Yes I've seen batteries with no water in them. Don't believe in maintence free. Lift the covers off and check. Wiggle the posts to make sure they are solid into the battery. May be broken inside. Autozone or a parts store should be able to check the battery and alternator for free if there is one near you.

Thanks guys. It was the battery. The battery was actually 12 years old. Yes 12 years old! I bought the truck from a older gentleman.
