Engine cuts out - car running in limp mode!?!

Asked by kayelldee Aug 18, 2009 at 09:03 AM about the BMW 3 Series

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have the ! light coming on on and the car will run fine for about 5 or 6 miles and then just cut out completely. Causing the car to be running in limp mode. Also once or twice when this happened the DDE coil light is also on! It is a diesel car and I have checked all the obvious things but so far no luck - any suggestions?

get the codes read when it's in limp mode to get an idea on what's going on. It could be the coils but can't say for sure without knowing more on the codes. gl.
