water leaking at top of windshield into car when it rains,  I have a sun roof.  If drain plugs could be the cause, how do I locate them?

Drains are within the sunroof track fore and aft. They drain down to the frame rails underneath the car. You can ream it out with 4 foot length of coaxial cable.

Also if you have an air compressor, you can blow it out with an air nozzle

Matt, Thanks for your help on my leaking issue. I found the front drain holes and used a air compressor. They did not seem to be clogged. I could not locate the drain holes in the rear of sun roof. They were not in view. Do I have to remove the sliding roof to locate them. Also, I found that the gasket framework that the roof slides over is loose. What are your thoughts on glueing it back into place. Your helpful tips and comments are sincerely appreciated. The leak has started to cause the interior head lining to separate from windshield area/ Norb

if the seal around the windsheild isnt leaking then you have to remove the headlines, hardness on a 3 series is rated 1-10, 10 being hardest, i would rate it a 6, very time consuming and everything must be placed correctly into position or you could mess the headliner up

If your fronts drains are not clogged I doubt the rears would be. I would double check the windshield seal for cracking or failures. A tube of silicone window sealer would do the trick.
