First Time BMW Buyer Question

I am considering buying a BMW for the first time so I have a few questions.

I'm most interested in a E46 330i, probably a 2001-2003. Does anybody have
experience with these? Most that I'm looking at have well over 100,000 miles. Is this a
problem? And on average, how much does routine maintenance cost?  

Any guidance is appreciated! I do apologize for the uneducated questions.

Is there any pattern to the wheel/rim style on the E46 330i? I've seen several cases where there appears to be vehicles from the same year with different stock rims.
